As a young actor important skills to have under the belt is being quite flexible for doing stunts, and this is very important for someone who wants to go into action acting as most people who wants to do action are quite flexible already. Another good skill is to sing because in the present there are loads of roles which require the main character or others to sing. Another great skill would be to play an instrument as you may be required to do solos during an act. As a young actor, having experience with theatre and being able to understand a role you are meant to act is very important. Having people skills is also very important in the industry especially being charming and having manners. The reason for this is because when you talk to agents or a director you are working with you need to know how to have a good conversation with them and if you show that you can be open and show respect to others, then you will generally attract good attention. Having contacts is also quite important as a young actor as they can get you auditions and even roles so the more contacts the higher chance you have of success. Being able to network is also important to find jobs and meet new people and that's what it's all about nowadays.
When doing the actual acting it's important to take your work very seriously and put 100% of your effort and thoughts into becoming the character you are trying to act out. Immaturity is a very big obstacle in acting as if you laugh when trying to do a role you will not succeed in the business.
