Music Video:

Today we sat in a room together and discussed Music videos and what the different components that make something a music video which are Music and Film. I mentioned how Music is just vibrations and Film is a series of pictures played over one another in frames. After this we had watched a series of Music videos from different Eras:
Beatles
Aha
Lady Gaga
Michael Jackson

After this we wrote down similarities and differences between the music videos from when we watched them the first and second time as we watched them again only this time instead of being in chronological order we did it in the opposite. One clear similarity which was constant was that each mus video depicted some sort of story or plot an example would be Aha and how it was about a nerdy girl who fancied a guy inside of a cartoon world which she got sucked into, but after she did she was chased by police officers in this world and her love who was the cartoon character died. We also discussed techniques that had been developed for example mixing cartoon and the real world and subliminal messages. We then talked about how we are going to make one minute music video together in two different groups. 


The next week:


This week we spent the beginning part of our lesson working on our comic strip for our music video so that we can get on paper the chronological order of what will appear in the video as music is play.

The whole idea of our music video is to create the scenario wherein two lesbian individuals are in an argument with one another, afterwards as this argument is going on one of the girls has a flash back to when they were living happy lives and this scene is based in one of their kitchens. Now the music video will flash back to the present to a scene where the girl is desperately trying to catch the train yet she fails to do so, and the lyrics also mention traffic and so someone in my group recommended that she also is getting onto a bus as she missed the train and she's extremely angry at the traffic. The video now fast forwards to the future where their relationship has been mended and they are happy with one another once again and they are walking through a rainbow tunnel indicating their happiness.

After we had drawn the whole script and wrote the dialogues and actions, we had two people from each group to act out our music videos and this did this during the music played. We picked Alexis and Mya and they did a great job. The teacher did tell us that she felt that because our music video will have to be sped up that we will need to be extra careful with editing. If there aren't obvious and accurate cuts in our editing we won't get distinctions. We were also told to film as much as possible as it's hard to edit if we have barely any material to start off with.
